Home Birth Supplies
We have less than 4 weeks to my due date! And I am so ready for it. Eric was 10 days late so I’m hoping and praying that by some miracle I either go early or on time. I’m so ready to have this baby on the other side of me!
My first home birth was a wonderful success, intense, but very successful. I was so happy to have an amazing husband, midwife and also have my mother there for the birth as well. But when you give birth for the first time you really have little to no idea what to expect but this time around I am feeling so much more excited and prepared than I was the first time around! So as I prepare for another home birth I thought it’d be fun to show you all my supplies and things I have ready to do.
My Supply List:
Herbal Sitzbath– This is such a wonderfully soothing tea to soak in postpartum and can be very soothing especially with any tearing.
. Silicone Bulb Syringe -Gotta have this guy handy to suck up all the boogers and mucus. The first couple of days babies tend to have a lot of mucus to work up and this helps so much. Also, it comes apart so you can wash it out and keep it sanitary!
Motherlove Nipple Balm– This stuff is fantastic for those first few weeks of sore nips. No need to wipe it off before you feed the babe. Soothing and all-natural ingredients!
Always Discreet Depends– After giving birth, how you look will most likely be the least of your worries. Or at least it was for me. I was so thankful for these pampers to help keep me from leaking all over the place. They are snug fitting but not to tight. Very comfortable and give you peace of mind that you won’t soil linens and furniture by leaking out onto things.
Afterbirth Pain Relief– They say the afterbirth pain gets worse with each child. This time around I’m prepared! This stuff helped me successfully stay off of over the counter prescription pain killer and I’m hoping I can do the same this time around as well.
Cleansing Bottle– This will be filled with olive oil for the midwives to use when the baby is crowning as well as for the baby’s tar poops those first few days. Spreading some olive oil over their bum before you try and wipe their sticky newborn poop off is so helpful!
Chux Pads– Not much to explain here. You’ll want these all around you when you are pushing and getting ready to meet your sweet babe.
Serenity Now Oil Collection– I was so excited this little ouch of oils was released in time for my labor. It contains all the emotional supporting + relaxing oils I’ll be wanting during labor!
Cotton Nursing Pads– These were a lifesaver with my first birth and helped tremendously with itching and irritation.
Claraderm Spray– This spray is God’s gift to women. Its formulated with very healing, soothing oils great for spraying on your bottom postpartum. I’ll be spraying this down there every time after I go to the bathroom to help me heal faster.
Thieves Lozenges– Birth and delivery can become quite vocal, especially at the end and these lozenges were so soothing for my throat after the fact.
Fridda Mom Peri Bottle– Who doesn’t want the snazziest peri-bottle on the block?? This here is a wonderful postpartum tool to rinse off your undercarriage with after you use the bathroom postpartum. Most times you’ll be so sensitive and tender down there the last thing you’ll want to do is give yourself a wipe with toilet paper.
Post-Partum Herbal Pads– I’ve never tried these before but am super excited to this time around! They’re infused with cooling and soothing herbs such as peppermint, lavender, and aloe and there are so many good reviews of them!
Cotton Sleep Bra– These are an absolute must-have! 100% cotton so they are breathable and won’t leave me all sweaty and feeling irritated and itchy. They’re loose-fitting which is what you want those first few days so you’re milk can flow but you’ll still need something there to help hold your nursing pads in and make so you don’t leak all over the place. These are perfect!
L. Chlorine Free Super Pads With Wings– This is my first time trying these but I was super adamant about using all-natural chlorine-free pads this time around. These are for when my bleeding slows down a bit after a few days!
Homebirth is a marathon yall, as is any birth! But being this is my second time around I know a little better what to be prepared with and what I won’t be needing this time around. I hope especially if you are a first-time mom or if this if your first home birth that you found this helpful!
